We are saddened to announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Claude Alvin Rohrbough.
Born June 27,1930 to Elva F. Rohrbough and Velma L. Rohrbough, Claude passed on August 1, 2019. He was 89 years old.
Claude was born in Gem, Kansas and grew up in Colby, Kansas. He met Lois Maxine Cooley ""Maxine"" while still in College and they were married on December 21, 1952. He graduated from Kansas State College with a Master's Degree of Science in 1956. Maxine graduated with a Bachelor's Degree of Science in Home Economics in 1952.
In May of 1954, Claude enlisted into the army. After his honorable discharge, he started his career in Geology, working for PureOil, Belco Petroleum, and Aztec Oil & Gas Co. Moving from Wyoming to Texas to New York, and finally to Colorado, he always saw to the needs of his wife and children.
After moving to Colorado, Claude was actively involved with his dad's farm in Colby, Kansas. He continued farming after his parents passed. He also helped his son, Brian, start his business and continued to assist Brian until his death.
Together Claude and Maxine raised three children: Randall Lee Rohrbough (born April 1954, passed January 1978 at the age of 23), Mark Curtis Rohrbough (born 1957) and Brian Eric Rohrbough (born 1959).
On April 20,1999 Claude's grandson Daniel was murdered at Columbine High School.
Through life's joys and tragedies, Claude was a gentleman with a witty sense of humor and a strong Christian faith. He was well known and respected in the farming community of Colby, Kansas. He liked learning about how things worked, watching Kansas State's football games, and other sports. When he worked in his garden, a line of cats often accompanied him as they walked single file down the rows of vegetables. He enjoyed time with his grandchildren and great-grandson and was always pleased to hear about the things they were interested in.
Claude was proceeded in death by his parents: Elva and Velma (Howell) Rohrbough; his son: Randy; and his two grandsons: Daniel Lee and Joshua Lee.
He is survived by his wife: Maxine; his two children: Mark and Brian; his grandchildren: Margaret, Jessica, Rachael, and Isaac; and his first great-grandchild: Dylan.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, August 14, 2019 at Grace Presbyterian Church, located at 9720 South Santa Fe Drive, Highway US-85 North in Highlands Ranch. Visitation will be held at 10 AM, followed by a funeral service at 11 AM, and reception to immediately follow. A grave side service will be held at 2 PM at Littleton Cemetery, 6155 South Prince Street.
