Claudina "Coco" Stewart

October 24, 1941 — December 12, 2020

Claudina “Coco” Stewart passed away on 12.12.20 after living a life full of Irish toasts and blessings in Denver, Co.  Coco was a proud graduate of East High School and spent her career in sales for USWEST/QWEST where she made lifelong friends and memories. Loved by many, especially a host of dogs that called Coco “mom.”

Due to Covid-19, a small outdoor service will be held graveside on Dec. 17, 2020 at 1 pm at Olinger Crown Hill Cemetery in Wheat Ridge.  Please contact Coco’s godson, John, for details.

Claudina Frances Stewart was born to James and Claudina Stewart on October 24, 1941. Named after her mother, she was known to most as Colleen or Coco. Coco attended Denver Public Schools and graduated from East High School in 1960.  Most of her early life stories surround the fun and adventures she had with her older sister, Caroline.

During her career, Coco worked in sales for USWEST/QWEST where she made lifelong friends.   Travels with friends ranged from scuba diving in the Caymens to her annual trip to the Albuquerque Balloon Festival and a few visits to “Bud’s Bar” in between travels. In 2007, Coco traveled to Ireland with one of her best friends and often reminisced over this trip of a lifetime.

Photography was one of Coco’s life’s passions and a gift to friends and family as she chronicled travels, parties, birthdays and every holiday. Of course, Coco is best known for her own St Patrick’s Day party - an event that started with parade attendance and ended with a full dinner and plenty Irish toasts and songs in a house decked out in shamrocks.

Anyone who knew Coco, knew her dogs.  Coco loved to walk her dogs around Mayfair and visit with neighbors and friends.  Coco’s annual Christmas card featured her dogs (usually in costume) with themes ranging from dogs (and Coco) on a motorcycle to dogs in hats, antlers, or sunglasses.

Coco was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Caroline Stewart Bruce.

Donations in her honor: Denver Dumb Friends League (please see link and information below).
