Clella was born in Dallas Center, Iowa to Frederick and Irene Schultze. Her and her family moved to the family farm in Adel, Iowa, when she was one year old. When Ralph died in 1986, she returned to the country club in Horseshoe Bend, where she met and married her second love, Clarence Junior Hoit. They moved to Mesa, Arizona and eventually settled back in Colorado. They were married almost 25 years when Clarence passed away.

Clella led a rich, productive life and loved to travel the world, her favorite place of all was Hawaii. She was a loving, caring spirit that touched a multitude of lives, and her family and friends meant the world to her.
