We lost a beautiful soul on Sunday, February 17, 2019 when Clendon succumbed to a devastating heart attack. Clendon Wright Tews was born in June 1958 at St. Cloud, Minnesota to Ortwin and Margaret Tews. He was joined by two brothers, Bryan and Jared. The boys were all baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. They enjoyed early childhood in Minneapolis and Bloomington, Minnesota. The family moved to Northglenn in 1970. Clendon was an alumnus of Northglenn High School followed by graduation from the Denver Institute of Technology.
A proud fence builder for more than 30 years, Clendon prized working outdoors, creating structures to please owners and seeing the results of his labors every single day. He enjoyed the camradery of his co-workers and his long-time relationships with others in the industry; home-builders' project reps, tradesmen building homes and landscapers. His work took him to every part of the metropolitan area from Ft. Collins to Colorado Springs. It was an eye-opening adventure to go on a tour with him to see the results of his work.
Clendon was a sentimental, sweet, generous, and loyal man with a wonderful sense of humor. Love of family was primary for Clendon. He was married for a time and of this union, a son Michael was born in 1983. He treasured nieces and nephews, and grand-nieces and nephews and cousins. He remained close with the daughter of his former wife, and her two boys.
Clendon enjoyed the entire car racing spectrum. He and Mike twice attended the Daytona 500 in Florida, and he was an avid attendee at Bandimere and especially the Mile High Nationals. He ""wrenched"" on a race car one year on the summer circuit when young and had a great time. He liked all kinds of music and had a keen lifelong quest for knowledge.
Clendon's Dad, Ortwin, passed away in 2017, and he is survived by his son Michael; brothers, Bryan (wife Brenda) and Jared (wife Kim); his mother, Margaret, and numerous extended family members. Clendon enjoyed many friends for many years. We all love him so much and already miss him terribly.
Clendon was a selfless man, and because of this, he chose to be an organ donor. His decision of organ donation has and will bless many lives.
A gathering of family and friends for âRemembering Clendonâ will be held on Saturday, April 27th, from 10:00am-1:00pm at the HeartLight Center, 11150 E. Dartmouth Ave., Aurora, CO 80114. The HeartLight center is located just south of Horan & McConaty, and they share the same parking lot.
