Cletus E. King, Jr.

Cletus was born August 13, 1943 in Vincennes, IN, to Cletus E. King, Sr. and Mary Ruth Anderson King. Mr. King was in the Army at the time and remained in the Army after World War II. The family, which also included his younger sister Juanita, moved several times as is common with the military. They eventually settled near Colorado Springs where Cletus graduated from Fountain-Fort Carson High School in 1961. After high school Cletus enlisted in the Army, serving from 1961-1964. Cletus attended two colleges before transferring to Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff Arizona in 1968. He studied geology and graduated in 1971. While at NAU he met Richena Meirose. They dated for the next three years while finishing school and married on December 16, 1971. Cletus found work at the Denver Federal Center first with the U.S. Geological Survey and then with the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation until he retired in 2002. During this time Cletus and Richena raised two sons, Kyle born in 1979 and Travis born in 1982. After retirement Cletus enjoyed puttering around the house, volunteering his time to help others, and visiting with friends.

Preceded in death by: Earl King (father), Ruth King (mother), Kyle King (son), and David Bagnall (cousin).

Survived by: Richena King (wife), Travis King (son), Juanita Baldwin (sister), Mark Baldwin (brother-in-law), John Bagnall (cousin), Keith and Jackie Bagnall, (cousins).

A Memorial Service is planned for Monday, February 17, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. at Mountair Christian Church, 1390 Benton St., Lakewood CO 80214. A virtual viewing option will be available.
