Colleen R. Nies

Passed away on Jan. 27, 2018, peacefully at her home in Denver, CO. Born on Aug. 2, 1925 in Loveland, CO, the daughter of Dortha Rankin and John Walter Rankin. She lived in Longmont, CO, San Diego, CA, Modesto, CA, Cincinnati, OH, and Denver, CO. She worked in department stores in her youth, was a full time wife, mother of three, homemaker, and very active in her community, founding member of the Cherry Point Garden Club, active in Bridge Club and Pinehurst Country Club where she enjoyed golf. A gourmet cook and a talented hostess, she enjoyed time with her friends, whether it be traveling across the globe or to Jackson Hole, WY. Colleen is survived by daughter Julie Kinney, sons Trent and Tracy; granddaughter Kaitlin Kinney; great-granddaughter Rylin and great-grandson Logan. Colleen was preceded in death by her loving husband Alan. Viewing will be held Fri. Feb. 9, 2018 12:00pm with Funeral Service to follow at 1:00pm, Horan & McConaty Family Chapel, 5303 E County Line Rd, Centennial. Private family burial in Longmont.
