Colonel S. ""Bud"" Ray

Colonel Scudder ""Bud"" Ray was born in Norman, Oklahoma to Colonel and Ina Ray on December 27, 1923. He graduated from Clausen High School in Oklahoma City in 1942. He received a law degree from the University of Oklahoma in 1950. Bud served in World War II in the U.S. Army from 1943-1945, flying combat missions over Germany and France as a radio operator. In 1952, he joined the Air Force as a commissioned officer serving in Alabama and Texas before being sent to Libya and England. He retired in December 1979 from Grand Forks Air force base after serving twenty-seven and a half years. Bud moved to Colorado in 1970. He met Rita Antoine on a ski slope. They were married in 1973. Bud and Rita enjoyed skiing, golf, and tennis. They were members of All Souls Catholic Church in Engelwood. Bud died in Centennial, CO on June 30, 2015. He will be buried in Bancroft, Iowa, home of his wife Rita. He is survived by his wife Rita, son Bob Ray and daughter Ann (Ken) Clark of Tucson, AZ from a previous marriage. Also surviving several nieces, nephews, three brothers-in-law and two-sisters in law. Memorial donations may be made to All Souls Catholic Church, Little Sisters of the Poor or the Denver Animal Shelter.
