Constance L. Jackson

September 11, 1924 — April 29, 2013

Constance Jackson, 88, (of Denver, CO) died April 29, 2013. Born in Wichita, KS to William and Adela (Bahlman) Jackson, she graduated from Mount Carmel Academy and Wichita State University. She moved to Denver and a job with United Airlines. She obtained an MSW from DU and began her social work career at Colorado General Hospital. She also worked for Boulder Mental Health Clinic and Denver General Hospital before becoming Director of Social Services at St. Joseph Hospital, retiring in 1989. She enjoyed traveling, skiing, figure-skating, genealogy, and the fine arts. She played the recorder and sang in the choir at St. James Church where she was very active before joining Christ the King Parish. She was generous to her family, church, and community and enjoyed the company of her friends, especially Gloria Zakus and the late Betty MacDougal who supervised her care during the past two years. Survivors include two sisters, Patricia (Clyde) Girrens of Wichita and Linda Andrews of Des Moines, IA, nine nieces and nephews, as well as Irish and American cousins. She was preceded in death by a sister, Joan House, and two nephews. Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 am Saturday, May 25, preceded by Rosary at 10 am, and followed by a lunch-reception at Christ the King Church, 830 Elm St., Denver. (Private family interment will take place in Wichita.)
