Corey J Barker (52) passed away on Sunday, November 13, 2022. Corey was born in Wheat Ridge, Colorado on June 26, 1970, and graduated from Arvada High School. Corey was married to his best friend, DeAnne, for 31 years and his greatest accomplishments were his five children, Meaghan, Kenzie, Cayla, Ryan and Miyah. Corey was the foundation of his family and could not be prouder of his children. Corey and DeAnne’s relationship was one to be proud of. They worked hard at creating a great family home and it was full of great memories. Rarely would harsh words ever be exchanged, and the goal was to love everyday even on the hard days. He started most calls, text messages and notes with “Hey Hun!” His favorite past times were fishing, camping, playing pool, gold panning, & spending quality time with his kids He especially loved watching them play sports or listening to the music that was created on Miyah’s violin. Watching the kids grow into young adults and watching their accomplishments made Corey smile and his heart would swell full of pride whenever he had the opportunity to talk about them. He was always making people smile and laugh, his sense of humor would keep you on your toes and if you were lucky, he would even rap a song for you. Corey grew up and lived his life in Arvada, it was not uncommon for Corey to not run into someone who he knew while out. One of his fondest memories was working with his dad at Henderson Mine. Corey loved playing and coaching hockey, football and wrestled.
Corey sadly left behind his wife, DeAnne Barker, daughters, Meaghan Barker (Josh Davis), Mackenzie Barker, Micheala Barker (Aneus Olson) and Miyah Barker and his son, Matthew Barker. His mom, Donna Elbourne, Brother, Tracy Barker and Sister, Misti Goracke. His Mama-son, Dorothy Lavery (George) and his Honorary Dad, Frank Trevino. Sister, Trish Trevino and Brother, James Trevino (Jane). Nieces and Nephews, Devian Trevino (Jesse), Brookie Scully, Addison Scully (Kira), Parker Trevino, Owen Trevino, Rylee Trevino, Breanna Rice, Alicia Barker, Slater Goracke, Ethan Goracke, Nate Goracke. Great Nieces and Nephews, Jynisis, Santino, Lydia, Royal, and soon to be Scarlett. He will be missed by many others that loved him.
Corey excitedly joined his Dad, Tom Barker, at that watering hole that his Dad told him to meet him on the day he died. We are so happy to know that they are having the best time, laughing, hugging and I’m confident that I have heard his Dad say “Aww Son” a few times. His Grandma and Grandpa also greeted him with open arms.
