Corless (Carl) Walters, 78, died April 1, 2010, with his family by his side. Mr. Walters was born June 5, 1931, in Sloan, Iowa to Russell and Dessie Walters. He graduated from high school and later served in the Unites States Army where he was stationed in Germany during the Korean War. Carl met his wife Elsie and they married October 3, 1953, and had 3 sons. Carl and Elsie moved to Westminster in September 1956 and made Commerce City their home in 1959. After 30 years at South Adams County Water where he worked as a Water Engineer. He retired in June 1996. Carl loved fishing, boating, camping and the Denver Broncos. He also took great pride in his yard. He enjoyed meeting and sharing life stories with everyone he met. He always told good stories and jokes and was a gentle man. Carl often chatted with everyone that he came in contact with and was interested in the work that they did. He would always ask how he could get a job doing what they did even though he was retired. He will be missed greatly by his family and everyone who knew him. Mr. Walters is survived by his wife Elsie; sons, Mike, Ronnie and Scott Walters; daughter-in-law Karen; brothers Dean and Chet Walters; 4 grand children, Angela, Melissa, Rachael and Kris; and 4 great-grandchildren Brandon, Andrew, Kelsy and Alexis. A Memorial Service will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday at Horan & McConaty Funeral Home, 9998 Grant Street, Thornton. Senior Pastor Fred Askins will officiate. Memorial concludes at the Mortuary.
