Cort, 41, of Denver, passed away April 19, 2013. He was born May 14, 1971 in Boston, the son of Dr. J. Wallace and Elizabeth McMeel. He attended Johns Hopkins University, graduation Phi Beta Kappa with a B.A., then attended Columbia University, receiving his M.F.A. He had a career as a commodity trader, working for Cargill, Constellation Energy, and Rainbow Energy. He was on the faculty at Lighthouse Writers Workshop in Denver. A writer and publisher, Cort was the recipient of numerous awards. His novel ""Short"" was published by St. Martin's Press in 2010, and he also wrote a compilation of short stories entitled ""Murdaland"". He is survived by his wife Sharon, two children Marlowe and Connor, his parents J. Wallace and Elizabeth, Sharon's mother Clarissa Zanoni, sister-in-law Clarice (Thurston) Smith. Services will be 1:00 PM, May 11, at the Church of the Advent in Boston. Memorial contributions may be made to the Lighthouse Writers Workshop, 1515 Race St, Denver, CO 80206.
