Corwin Maupin

b. September 29, 1925

Corwin Moyle Maupin, age 95, died peacefully in his home in Highlands Ranch, CO on December 7, 2020.  He was born in Rains, UT on September 29, 1925 and was raised in Denver, CO.

He enlisted in the Navy at the age of 17.  He was a World War II submarine veteran, so his death on the anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor was fitting.

After his discharge, he moved to Grand Junction, CO where he met Esther Coulter.  They were married for 52 years before Esther died on December 1, 2000.  Cory is survived by two children, Marcia Smith and Roger Maupin, four grandkids, and six great grandkids.

Cory retired after 32 years from Warner Lambert (currently Pfizer) rising from a traveling salesman to district manager and then Regional manager.  After retirement, he took over his step-father’s wholesale flooring business and successfully expanded it over the next 33 years.

Cory enjoyed fishing, traveling, cruising, golfing, sailing, motorhoming, scuba diving, bungee jumping, snowmobiling, ATV, dirt biking, biking, snow and water skiing.  He loved his martini’s and a Bushmills night cap.

Cory spent the last 15 years of his life with Judy Pendery.  They traveled around the world twice.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Garth and Roger.  Roger was a WWII marine killed at 21 in the battle of Tarawa in the South Pacific.

Cory requested that his and Esther’s ashes be spread at Turquoise Lake in Leadville, Colorado on a nice summer day.
