Cory Dunbar

Cory came into this world early in the morning on May 31, 1986. When he departed it suddenly and unexpectedly on June 23, 2020, he left a hole in the hearts of his family and friends that will never be filled.

Cory was clever, funny, quick-witted and full of curiosity. He could spend hours online going down what he called ""wormholes"" in search of facts and interesting information. He would start with some location, person, historical event or invention and by the end he’d have discovered intriguing new details about subjects 180 degrees from the original topic and, amazingly, he remembered everything.

He made a life-long friend practically before he could talk and he made new friends later at school who also became very important in his life. While he wasn’t comfortable in new situations, he put himself out there for friends because that’s the type of person he was. For the last five years of his life, he was his younger sister’s roommate. They, too, were best friends and shared much in common - from a love of books, movies and animals to an interest in travel and so much more. When a quick repartee convulsed his parents in laughter and had his sister spewing pop through her nose, his shy smile would indicate his pleasure at their reaction. Cory had a great love of cooking, which his sister and parents benefited from constantly. He was a wonderful son, brother and friend.

Cory attended Columbine High School and received his bachelor’s degree in Economics at the University of Colorado-Boulder. After graduating, he helped his family in many ways that included caring for and moving grandparents, house-and-pet-sitting for his parents on their numerous trips and acting as a sounding board for his sister for everything from rush-hour traffic frustrations to a shared disappointment at the ending of Season 8 of Game of Thrones.

None of us can believe he is gone from our lives. Remember him. Share your memories and laugh about the good times. Celebrate his life. He was loved.

Cory is survived by his mother, father and sister.
