Craig Lee Crowl passed away on January 13, 2024 peacefully at home after a valiant battle with Leukemia. Born on January 17, 1955 in Greenville, South Carolina to Clarence and Anne Crowl. His father's military career took him to Japan, Germany and Pensacola, Florida before finally settling in Cocoa Beach, Florida.
Craig lived an extraordinary life. He was an outstanding football player in high school and received a college scholarship to Florida where he played Gator Football. Friendships he gathered there were with him his entire life. Being a true “Florida boy” and lover of the outdoors he spent countless hours fishing and hunting in Florida, Alabama, Colorado and Canada. It was his true passion and he loved the yearly get togethers with his friends where he could be with his buds having a beer, telling stories, and hunting deer, elk and birds.
He met his wife, Julie, while they were both finishing up their undergraduate degrees at Rollins College. He went on and received two Masters degrees – University of Denver and University of Southern California. Julie and Craig had a deep love that lasted the next 45 years, 'till the day he died. They had countless adventures and spent their lives building a home and family in Littleton, Colorado. He retired after 37 years at Lockheed Martin Space Systems where he worked on many exciting projects and classified programs.
A Man of many talents – Craig always had a side project going on. He was a man that didn’t go over/under/around a problem – he went straight through it. If he wasn’t building something, or playing golf, he was tinkering on cars, working in the yard or building superman Lego castles on the floor with his grandkids.
His family was everything to him. He is survived by his wife, Julie; son Craig Crowl II, daughter-in-law Lauren (Prewitt) Crowl; three grandchildren: Josephine, Craig Crowl III, and Marguerite; cousin, Dr. Christine Cauffield, and brother Mark. He had an extended Wisconsin family of brother-in-laws and sister-in-laws: Douglas and Kathy Davis, John and Joan Loveall, Randy and Mary Jane Kosciesza, Sandy Carini and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held Wednesday, January 24, 2024, 10am, Horan & McConaty Family Chapel, 3101 S. Wadsworth Blvd., Lakewood, Colorado.
