Curtis L. Judd

May 2, 1961 — November 8, 2013

Curtis Lee Judd, Age 52, passed away on the 8th of November, 2013 in the company of his closest family. He had been fighting Gastric Cancer for several months. He was born May 2nd, 1961 in Boulder, CO to Mother Violet E. Smithburg and Father, William R. Judd. Curtis is survived by his loving wife, Katherine; his daughters, Jennifer, and Meaghan; and son, Celton. He also leaves behind a sister, Brenda Higgins (John) of Genoa, CO. He is preceded in death by his father, and mother, and his step-father, Howard. Curtis Lee Judd was an exceptional man of strength and integrity. Raised in a farming community from the time he was brought home by adopted parents Violet and William at 3 months old, he had a deep love of family and of the land. He became a big brother with the adoption of his sister, Brenda, 19 months later. He grew up southwest of Holly, Colorado until he moved to Genoa at age 12. There, he attended high school and was baptized, accepting the Lord Jesus Christ as his savior. As a child, Curtis had an insatiable appetite for knowledge. He read everything he could, and he continued that habit throughout his life. Leaving home, Curtis began working in construction, where he found he had a natural aptitude. He would later go to college and study Civil Engineering, and graduated with a Bachelor's Degree from Metropolitan State College of Denver. He kept that occupation his entire life, and was known for his solid work ethic. He eventually rose to become a partner at Velocity, Inc. of Denver. Curtis had an enormous wealth of knowledge and a deep love for history. He joined the Renaissance Scots group and portrayed a living example of Scottish life to educate the public. He was an accomplished sword fighter and loved to collect ancient artifacts and weapons. It was here that he met his beloved wife, Katte. Their mutual love of history was only the first thing they found they had in common, and were soon handfasted for a year and a day according to ancient customs. They were married in high Scottish fashion, in a beautiful wedding of Kilts and Swords. Curtis found another love through Katte, cherishing her daughter Jennifer, and adopting her as his own. Later, Katte and Curtis would also have a son, Celton and daughter, Meaghan. Curtis loved children and was a doting father. He was a leader in his son's Cub Scout troop, and loved to teach him the values that he so enjoyed. Many have been touched by Curtis's life, and he will be sorely missed. He was always quick to help a friend, and many benefited from his wisdom. A better friend, father, brother, son or coworker would be hard to find. Services will be at Saint James Presbyterian Church, 3601 West Belleview Avenue, Littleton, CO 80123 on Thursday, November 14, 2013 at 10:00 AM where he was a member. A visitation will be held Wednesday, November 13, 2013 from 5:00-8:00 PM at Horan & McConaty Family Chapel, 3101 S. Wadsworth Blvd. Lakewood, CO 80227.
