He attended Sacred Heart Grammar School and Bishop Loughlin High School where he played football and baseball. After moving to Long Island, Cy would ride the train to Brooklyn everyday for school. After riding the train, he would jump from ice float to ice float along the Long Island Sound with his friends. He only fell in once.
Cy joined the Navy in 1946 and respectfully served two years in World War II. He ended up representing Norfolk Naval Station on their baseball and football teams. After his time in the Navy Cy attended Seton Hall University where he earned his BS in Health and Physical Education. After college Cy spent time playing in the semi pro baseball leagues until a job as a salesman for International Paper Company was offered. He received offers to join the Brooklyn Dodgers during this period, but chose to pursue a different path.
His job at International Paper led him to Chicago where in 1956 he met the love of his life Patricia C. Casey. The two married in 1964 in Shaker Heights, Ohio before making their home in Barrington, IL where they welcomed both their children, Dan and Erin. In 1969 they moved to Greenwood Village, CO as he took a new job with Carpenter Paper Co. He devoted over 30 years before retirement.
Cy was an avid golfer, a loyal Yankee’s fan and was a season ticket holder for the Broncos. He was a member of The Church of the Risen Christ for over 50 years, where he displayed his wonderful singing voice as a member of the singing group. The Monday singers would entertain senior living facilities and other centers.
Cy’s love of sports turned him from player to coach, where one of his biggest joys was coaching his son Dan in both baseball and football for many years. He spent one week at the Air Force academy learning the game of soccer so he could be Erin’s coach too. He was their biggest fan. After his children graduated high school Cy was an active member in the Monaco South Optimist Club and was Club President in 2000.
Survivors include his brother Robert Regan (Terry), sisters Eileen Witkowski, Rosemary DePhillips (Paul) and Joan Naton; son Daniel O. (Kristin) Regan and daughter Erin B. (Todd) Jackson who both reside in Colorado. He also leaves behind grandchildren Connor, Catie, Kathleen, and Kiera (Ryan Willis) and Trevor Jackson.
