Cyrus Freitas

Cyrus Keone Freitas suddenly passed away at the age of 57 on April 9, 2022, and is with our loving mother now.  He was born to Louis H. Freitas and Priscilla S. Freitas on March 14, 1965, in Fort Bragg, North Carolina. He is survived by his father and is the fourth of five surviving siblings: his brother Louis (wife Kathryn) with their six children and four grandchildren; his brother Kevin (wife Christina) with their 3 children and 1 grandchild; brother David (wife Roseanna) with their 3 children and 1 grandchild; and sister Nani (husband David) and their 2 children.

Cy graduated from Mayfield High School in Las Cruces, New Mexico in 1982 and attended ATI in Scottsdale, Arizona.

He loved working in the restaurant industry and found a home with his Chick-Fil-A family. As anything with Cy’s life, he loved what he did and especially the people he worked with. He enjoyed working on cars, shooting pool with various pool leagues, singing karaoke and spending time on the course playing golf with friends and family.

Cy had a simple life and loved life to the fullest. He always had a smile on his face and a contagious laugh that would instantly cheer you up. He would always welcome anyone into his life with warmth and love. People knew he was always willing to help you any chance he could and even though he did not have much to give, he would offer you the shirt off his own back.

When asked how he was, Cy simply replied, “Living the Dream''. A true and giving friend to all he met, it was his Aloha and Mahalo Spirit that will live within us, Always!

Funeral arrangements remain in the planning stages with the family and our home parish Holy Cross Catholic Church in Las Cruces, NM. We will provide an update here. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to our family home at 450 W. Palmer Road, Las Cruces, NM 88005, and we will ensure that the donations go to the Las Cruces St. Vincent DePaul organization.
