D. Marguerite Baker

December 21, 1920 — February 9, 2017

Preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Dan, her parents, and her 3 siblings: Althea Dowis, John and Harold Delander. Survivors: Daughter, Beverly (Ed) Burton, and son, Dan (Michele) Baker; 5 grandchildren: Megan (Andy) Olen, Lyndee (Tim) Nelson, Chad (Brook) Baker, Greg (Tonia) Nelson, Danny Pat (Dena) Baker, 8 great-grandchildren, several dear nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. She attended school in Haxtun, CO and graduated from Barnes Business College in Denver. She worked for the Gov't for 5 years, 1 year for the Signal Corps in Beverly Hills (where she enjoyed seeing movie stars every day!). She was an elementary school secretary for Denver Public Schools for 23 years and at that time was active in the Educational Secretaries Assoc. After their retirement, she and Dan wintered in Mesa, AZ for 20 years. There she loved to play pool and won trophies, also won medals (even gold) in the Ariz. Senior Olympics. She loved traveling and was fortunate to travel with family and friends through the 50 states and 25 foreign countries. She was a long-time member of Bethany U. Methodist Church where she served in many capacities because of her faith and love of the Church. She volunteered in Community Ministries for many years. She was an avid Broncos fan and they attended games from 1965 until she gave their tickets to her grandkids. She attended the Broncos 1st Superbowl in New Orleans and another at the Rose Bowl. A Memorial Service will be held in Marguerite's memory on Friday, February 24, 2017 at TBD Time at the Horan & McConaty Family Chapel, 3101 S. Wadsworth Blvd. Lakewood, CO 80227. Interment at Fort Logan National Cemetery will take place immediately following. In Lieu of Flowers, Bethany Church, 3501 W. 1st Ave. Denver, CO 80219, or Community Ministries, 1755 S. Zuni, Denver, CO 80223.
