Dale Martin Jenkins, age 59, passed away on January 29, 2014 at his home in Littleton, Colorado. He was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in November, 2012. Dale was born to Kenneth and Wanda Jenkins in Shinglehouse, PA on May 16, 1954. After spending his childhood in Indiana, he graduated from Fairport High School in Fairport, New York in 1972. He attended Colorado State University where he earned his Bachelor's Degree in Child Development and Family Relationships. After working for two years at Frontier Village, a residential treatment center for boys, Dale returned to school, earning a Master of Arts in Education from the University of Northern Colorado. He then began a career in public education that lasted for 29 years, both as a special education teacher and principal. After his retirement from Douglas County School District in 2010, Dale taught classes in special education and supervised student teachers for the University of Phoenix. Dale is survived by his wife, Marie, daughters Bree-Ann (Tom) Dulaney and Shay Jenkins, step-children Brian Toews and Rachel Toews, brothers Kit (Nancy) and Jeff (Patricia), grandchildren Brett & Charlotte, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by both of his parents. Dale's memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 1, 2014 at 1:00 pm at Horan and McConaty at 5303 E. County Line Road, Centennial, CO 80122. Cremation will be followed by inurnment at First Mennonite Church in Denver.
