Dan was born on April 21, 1923 in Taylors Falls, Minnesota. He passed away June 12, 2015 and is survived by his wife Dorothy; two brothers, Roland Gabrielson and Eugene Gabrielson; two sons Richard Enders and Jeffrey Gabrielson; two daughters Vicki Long and Joan Gabrielson; granddaughter Jodi Dodge; grandsons Tyler Enders and James Hatcher; and great grandchildren, Gabriel Dodge, Taylor Dodge, Nathan Enders, Tristan Enders, Isiaah Hatcher, Jacob Hatcher and Micha Hatcher. Dan was a graduate of Sandstone High School and the University of Minnesota. He served in the United States Army as a member of the Office of Strategic Services from April 1943 to October 1945. Dan was a Corporal and earned the Bronze Star for heroism near Loilem, Burma. Dan worked for Continental Can Company from July 1949 to January 1962. He furthered his career as the Vice President and General Manager of Jeffco Manufacturing/Ball Container from January 1962 until January 1974. Dan was also an instrumental part of the community. As President for Industries for Jefferson County Dan raised the funds to build a swimming pool at the Jeffco YMCA and brought together the leaders who eventually built the Front Range Community College. He created a college scholarship fund for students from Sandstone High School to attend college. He was also a great supporter of Excelsior Youth Center through the Gabrielson Fund which paid the costs of the Center's anti bullying program and special unmet needs of the girls at the Center. Dan and Dorothy happily traveled the world and loved to be joined in their adventures by family and friends. They called Lookout Mountain home while also spending time in Sierra Vista, AZ and Guaymas, Mexico. He sure did love the Denver Broncos and the Colorado Rockies. A true fan, taking the good with the bad. Dan's witty sense of humor and his unparalleled wisdom touched innumerable people and should inspire us all. He was greatly loved and will be greatly missed.
