Daniel LeRoy Duncan was born May 18, 1950 and died December 23, 2020.
He was born in Lincoln, Nebraska to Erma Janet Kasal and Charles Nicholas Duncan. Following a divorce and remarriage, he moved with his new family to Commerce City, Colorado, where he grew up.
Dan was a talented musician, always vying with his best friend for the first chair clarinet position in school bands, though he played many instruments. His skill was rewarded by him being voted to the position of drum major for the marching band. He indulged his lifelong love of music through an extensive collection of classical vinyl and CDs.
Daniel was an avid reader, especially historical nonfiction. He was definitely a Civil War buff and held a fascination with World War II weaponry and aircraft. This extensive reading made him a consistent winner in family team games of Trivial Pursuit.
He worked hard to progress in his profession, taking college-level courses and reaching the level of Journeyman as a Precision Machinist. He was the lead man for many years at Swisslog, managing projects and designing precision dies for the production of automated medical equipment. Dan was one of those people who could look at a mechanical diagram and immediately understand its complexities.
Not a lover of large gatherings, his dry sense of humor only came out when he felt comfortable with a few people around him.
Dan was always willing to help out when asked, even in his later days when his health waned. He will be missed by family, friends and neighbors. He is predeceased by his father and survived by his mother and siblings.
Inurnment is planned at the Cremation Gardens.. Please send any memorial contributions to Denver Rescue Mission, Food Bank of the Rockies, Wounded Warrior Project, or other military charity of your choice.
Please share memories and condolences for Dan by signing the tribute wall.
