Our family regrets the recent passing of Daniel (Dan) Geisler Lehmann on March 4, 2021. Dan slipped on ice while walking on the sidewalk in his neighborhood and unexpectedly died from complications.
Through his 45 years, Dan had an extraordinary allegiance to his family and friends. Dan’s friends describe him as fiercely loyal, hard-working, competitive, and someone you wanted on your side for a game or a brawl. He consistently pushed himself to achieve his goals professionally and athletically. Dan could often be found rocking out at live Phish concerts or telling “Lenny the Lion” bedtime stories to his children. We believe Dan has found a peaceful place in heaven, where he may rest with the Lord as we loyally carry on his legacy.
Born on March 30, 1975 in Chicago, Illinois, Dan spent his formative years in Mequon, Wisconsin. He graduated Marquette University High School and Duke University. Dan worked in finance and business development these past few decades including at Deutsche Bank, K2, Cowen, and most recently CAC Specialty.
Dan was an avid athlete, renowned for his soccer “headers” and ability to learn fast. Dan was a high school soccer All-American and would have been inducted into his high school’s hall of fame this year. He was later recruited to Duke University where he helped win the 1995 NCAA Tournament College Cup. Dan loved golf, and his powerful swing drew attention away from his consistently inconsistent aim. During college, Dan improved his skiing rapidly so he could hit black diamonds with his buddies. He later skied in Tahoe, Colorado, Canada, Utah, and Wyoming.
A devoted music and sports enthusiast, Dan frequented live concerts and sporting events. He would travel far and wide to attend live music jams, often dragging friends to multiple live venues in a single night. Dan held no music in as high regard as Trey Anastasio of Phish and the Grateful Dead, and was a devoted fan of Anders Osborne. He attended over a dozen New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festivals. Die-hard fans of the Green Bay Packers, Dan and his brothers were season ticket holders. Dan’s lifelong buddies remember pilgrimages to Wisconsin’s Lambeau Field to see Brett Farve play. Dan attended Super Bowl XLV in Dallas to see his beloved Packers win their last Super Bowl from the best seats in the house!
Dan was a devoted father who loved his children deeply. In the early years, he found joy in the wonder of new life. He always wanted to be the first to get the babes from their cribs, including our often-singing Mary Bear. He enjoyed coaching soccer and family Steamboat trips, including a recent ski adventure with James.
Dan lived a rich life during his 45 years, and our family is proud that Dan’s strong body was able to donate six organs to five people.
A devout Catholic, Dan prized his role as father, uncle, and godfather. Dan is survived by his parents Joseph Henry Lehmann III and Carol Geisler Lehmann, brothers Joseph Henry Lehmann IV and Thomas Cowan Lehmann, children James Walker Lehmann and Mary Campbell Lehmann, and spouse Sabrina Skinner Lehmann. He also had a large extended family including the Gailliots, Marshalls, Lehmanns, Gratzer-Marshalls, Geislers, Bedfords, and Skinners. Godparents to Dan’s children include Anne Gailliot, Casey Marshall, Charlie Gailliot, Walker Stapleton, Shawna Skinner Knyal, and Brad Knyal.

"Come to me, all you that are weary and are carrying heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me; for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light." Matthew 11:28-30
