Daniel Edward Mares

Daniel Edward Mares, age 52, passed away while skiing with his kids at Keystone Ski Resort on December 22nd, 2018.

Born March 14th, 1966 in Lincoln, Nebraska, Dan grew up and attended Lincoln Northeast High School and The University of Nebraska - Lincoln, where he graduated with his Master's Degree in Civil Engineering. After college, Dan moved to Arvada, Colorado where he started his first job and later, his family. After several years as a Civil Engineer, Dan decided to follow his true passion and became a self-taught software engineer. In his free time, what he loved most was spending time with his kids. He loved skiing, hiking, biking, grabbing a local beer, cooking meats on his smoker and was always up for an adventure with a smile on his face.

Dan was survived by his two children, Courtney Marie and Andrew Edward Mares of Golden, CO, his brother, Donald Dennis Mares of Chicago, IL, his mother, RoseMarie Mares of Lincoln, NE, his former wife, Kimberly Johnson of Golden, CO, and many other loving extended family members. Dan was preceded in death by his father, Dennis Edward Mares.

Two services will be held, the first in Lincoln, Nebraska and another in Arvada, Colorado. The Nebraska service will be held 1pm CST, Saturday, January 12th, 2019 at The Apothecary South Loft, 140 N. 8th St., Suite 501, Lincoln, NE 68508. The Colorado service will be held at 1pm MST, Monday, January 21st, 2019 at the Arvada location of Horan and McConaty, 7577 W. 80th Ave. Arvada, CO 80003. Interment will be a private ceremony for immediate family.
