Daniel Mikkelson

Daniel of Golden, CO left this world on Sunday, March 28th.  He was 34 years old.  Daniel was born December 13, 1986 in Dallas, Texas.  He attended Mary Immaculate School, Bishop Lynch High School for 2 years, and graduated from The Winston School.  Daniel attended Richland CC for 2 years and then UT Arlington.  He was currently enrolled at Red Rocks CC in Lakewood Co.

Daniel was completing an EMT course, which he “was rocking it”, and then planning to go on to Nursing School.  This new career path made him happier than he had been in years.  He was doing clinical rotation in an ER and on ambulance service.  Helping friends, family and others gave his life strong purpose.  Daniel never met a stranger.  His bear hugs were sincere and so very comforting.  When Daniel laughed it was distinct, unforgettable and let most of the county know he was nearby.

Daniel had joined a world- wide community of burners.  He twice attended Burning Man in the Whiskey and Dust camp, and many smaller local festivals.  He was a ranger in his group.  His friends were lifelong and numerous.

In his too short life Daniel pursued many hobbies and interests:  wood turning, scuba diving, photography, rock climbing, music, beer brewing, and he was an avid reader.

Daniel laughed, loved and lived every day.   His loss leaves a void in the lives of his many friends and his large family.  Daniel is survived by his parents: John and Kathryn Mikkelson of Castle Pines, CO, his brother John Mikkelson of Ft. Worth, TX, many aunts and uncles and cousins.  The family dogs Prudence and Jim, cat Hattie. Daniel was predeceased by his grandparents:  Bill and Harriett Mikkelson and Edward and Mae Malone.
