Daniel Michael Stasch
1933 – 2021 (Age 88)
Dan passed away peacefully on November 11, 2021 at UCHealth, University of Colorado Hospital in Aurora, CO.
Born in Valentine, Nebraska on September 30, 1933 and raised in the Sandhills of Nebraska. His parents were Michael and Hattie (Schaefer) Stasch. His father was a depot agent for Chicago Northwestern Railroad. The family moved from depot to depot. Dan and his siblings attended elementary schools in several towns along Highway 20 in Nebraska. He graduated from Kilgore High School in 1951 and enlisted in the Navy. During his service, he was an airplane mechanic and served during the Korean War. He received an honorable discharge in 1956. When he returned home, he attended Nebraska Vocational Technical School in Milford, Nebraska. He studied Diesel and Farm Tractor Technology and graduated in 1959.
Dan married Verna M. Linenbrink in 1962. They began their married life in Denver, Colorado. To this union, two children were born; Michael Joseph and Mary Helen.
Dan was employed by the Sisters of St. Francis in Denver as a maintenance supervisor from 1962 until he retired in 1998.
He enjoyed spending time with family and friends including his long-time companion, Mickey Hein, which filled his life with much love and happiness. He loved attending his five grandsons’ year-around sporting events including lacrosse, hockey, golf and baseball. Dan enjoyed skiing and developed a passion for playing golf after retirement and joined the Senior Club at Hyland Hills Golf Courses where he met many new friends who shared his love of the game.
Survived by his son Michael (Julie) Stasch; daughter Mary (Michael) Tilger; grandsons, Nick, Andy and Robbie Stasch, Shane and Adam Tilger; sisters Mona (Steve) Mecham of Sheridan, Wyoming and Paula Czarnick of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; numerous nieces and nephews; long-time friend and companion, Maureen "Mickey" Hein; former spouse, Verna Stasch. He was preceded in death by his parents, Michael and Hattie Stasch; sisters Maryann Thompson and Donna Micheel; and brother David "Pat" Stasch.
A memorial service will be held at Horan and McConaty Funeral Home, 7577 W. 80th Avenue (80th & Wadsworth) in Arvada on Friday, November 26 at 11AM with an onsite reception immediately following. Please RSVP as promptly as possible using the RSVP button below so that an adequate luncheon may be prepared for the reception. We kindly request that all guests, regardless of vaccination status, wear a facemask to Dan’s service.
