Dario Galvan Velasco

     Dario Velasco of Denver passed away on June 30, 2023 at home surrounded by loved ones.

     Dario was born on December 19, 1932 in Xalapa, Veracruz. During his lifetime, he achieved many accomplishments, including a 30-year career as a master machinist for the Rio Grande Rail Road. He also had professional careers in baseball, soccer, and boxing. He met the love of his life in Léon, Mexico while playing professional baseball, and later married November 5, 1966 and built his family. Dario was a hard worker, great father and husband. He was tough but loving, and always kept a great sense of humor.

     Dario is survived by his brother Leobardo; his children Cathy (Ron), Marc (Denise), and Cristina (Lauli); his granddaughters Selena, Angelica, Joy, and Jordan; grandson Neil; five great grandchildren; nieces; nephews; and friends. Dario was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Velasco; his mother, Caridad Galvan Sanchez. 

     A viewing for Dario will be held on July 11, 2023 3pm to 6pm at Horan & McConaty 1091 S Colorado Blvd Denver, CO 80246. 

     Celebration of Life  wiLife willll be held July 12, 2023 9:00am at Church of the Risen Christ 3060 S Monaco Pkwy Denver, CO 80222. Burial following the Celebration of Life will at Mount Olivet Catholic Cemetery at 11:00am. Reception will be at Church of the Risen Christ Parish Hall 1:00pm to 3:30pm.
