Darlene Schofield Loomis

Darlene Schofield Loomis, 87, passed away February 23, 2012. She was born November 11, 1924 in Spring City, Utah to Gregson and Dolly LaVera Madsen Schofield. She grew up in the small community of Spring City, Utah. She had an idyllic childhood and made many lifelong friends. After graduating from North Sanpete High School she moved to Burley, Idaho where she worked in her uncle's grocery store. There she met a dashing young geologist and future husband, Hank Loomis. They fell in love and were married. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake City, Utah LDS Temple. Darlene loved to go shopping, to movies, and especially out to lunch. She was an avid BYU fan and loved attending football games well into her eighties. Darlene was active in the LDS church serving in various positions and served with Hank in the Denver, Colorado Temple for many years. Her five children were her pride and joy. Her two sons served missions for the LDS church and all were married in LDS temples. From their unions she has 16 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. Darlene was preceded in death by her husband, Hank Loomis and a grandson. She is a Mother to children, Hal (Connie) Loomis, Mary (Roy) Ward, Lou Anne (Torrey) Brinkerhoff, Patty (Greg) Lillmars and John (Patty) Loomis. A Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 26th, from 6:00-8:00pm, at Horan & McConaty, 3101 South Wadsworth Blvd., Lakewood, CO 80227. A Graveside service will be held on Monday, February 27th, at 10:00am, at Golden Cemetery, Highway 6 & Ulysses Street, in Golden, Colorado. Memorial Donations may be made to Denver Hospice, 501 South Cherry Street, Suite 700, Denver, CO 80246.
