Darren Jacobson

March 7, 1972 — August 6, 2013

Darren Jacobson passed away after a long illness at the age of 41. Darren was a Colorado native and attended Alameda High School and graduated from the University of Colorado, where he met his wife. He worked for several different companies as a financial analyst, including Martin Marietta, DTE, Detroit Edison and Policy Studies, Inc./Maximus. He also spent 1.5 years in Japan where he taught English and became proficient in Japanese. Darren had a great love for Colorado and the outdoors. He frequently hiked with his wife and father. In 2011 he trekked up Mt Kilimanjaro, the highest peak in Africa. Darren had considerable musical talent and music was a large part of his life. He was an accomplished guitarist, preferring originals, and composed and participated in the composition of many musical pieces. He performed at local venues with 2 bands, Shaft and Red Star Revolt, but his musical taste ran the gamut from progressive rock to jazz. He knew a great deal about music and music history and had a vast reservoir of general knowledge. Darren and his wife enjoyed travel and adventure and had interesting experiences in Asia, Europe and South America. Darren is survived by his wife, Mariko Yamanouchi (her parents, grandmother and two brothers), and his parents, sister, brother in law, nieces and many uncles, aunts and cousins. His two nieces were his ""power buddies"" and they frequently broke into their special power buddy song and dance when they saw Uncle Darren. Darren was very generous in spirit, compassionate and considerate. He was loved, liked and respected. He was hard working, disciplined, and focused and faced his health problems with great courage. He had a diverse group of friends and related to people of all ages. He will be greatly missed, but not forgotten. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to Denver Rescue Mission, Catholic Relief Services or other charity of your choice. Please share memories of Darren and condolences with his family in the guest book below.
