Darwyn Cleon Metzger (D.C.) is survived by his favorite wife Christine; and his sons Michael Darwyn (Mike), Darwyn Joseph (D.J.) and Alan Joseph (A.J.) LoSasso. Born in Coldwater, Kansas, Darwyn moved to California at a young age with his twin brothers Carl ""Dene"" Metzger & Elmer ""Gene"" Metzger where he became a champion drag racer before hitting the road as a semitruck driver. Eventually moving to Denver, he married Christine LoSasso and become her mother Ruth Louise's ""favorite son-in-law."" Darwyn spent his life on the road, but never to the detriment of his family. His handle of ""Father Flanagan"" was given to him by his fellow truckers because he was known to help everyone he could. With over six million miles logged in a semitruck, Darwyn holds one of the longest OTR driving careers in American history. His memorial party will be held at Horan & McConaty, 7577 W. 80th Ave. (80th & Wads) on Sunday, January 12, 2014 at 1pm. In lieu of flowers, Darwyn asked that contributions be made to Exempla Lutheran Hospice, 8300 W. 38th Ave., Wheat Ridge, CO 80033, for the kindness shown to him by their nurses.
