Dave Overton Born in Des Moines, IA on Sept 5th 1954. David Gail Overton was the third son of four for Elwood and Terrill. His family moved to Denver, CO where he attended school in the area and graduated from Ranum High School in 1972. While in school he succeeded in gymnastics and wrestling. His outstanding ability to wrestle served him well as a member of the Colorado United States of America wrestling team when competing against Japan, and was one of only two wrestlers to win their matches. His wrestling abilities did not go unnoticed and earned him a scholarship to the University of Colorado in Boulder. After a year of college, he decided to pursue a career in Mountain Bell Communications, later called Qwest, and married his high school sweetheart, Sandra Jean DiGiallonardo, whom he would be married to for 33 years. His success in wrestling was not only due to his superb skill, but also to sheer determination. This determination helped him achieve tremendous success in over 34 years at Qwest, working his way up the chain from stock boy to a well respected manager in software development. The happy couple's dream came true in 1979 with the birth of their first son, Chad David. More happiness followed with the birth of Casey Gail in 1981, soon followed by their youngest and Dad's Little Princess, Tamara Jean, in 1982. Their family was complete' for now! Dad's favorite pastime besides being with family was golf. This was a tremendous love of his, spending many Sunday's with the North Denver Golf Club. He was well known for how far he could hit the ball, driving it a majority of the time over 300 yards. Dad's determination to do well in this sport provided him with many triumphs, earning several club awards. In addition to awards; he met some of his closest friends who he kept in touch with on and off the course. They'll meet him again one day as dad is playing the 19th hole. Dad's continued success with marriage, family, and work lived through his children, with 2 of the 3 graduating high school as valedictorians, and all three attaining their dreams as an USAF Pilot, Adams County Deputy, and an aspiring doctor who is presently a chemist. Besides being an admirable Husband and father, Dad also proved himself to be a most precious Papa to two grandchildren, Zachary Grant, 4, and Davaney Louise, 2. His love would have continued to numerous other grandchildren, to include two on the way, if God didn't have other plans for him. Dad's Motto in life was to 'Try Hard & Have Fun' in all that you do. When you follow these two most important things, you can do no wrong. He told his kid's this motto before every soccer or football game, wrestling match, dance recital, test, or speech. He didn't care if we won or lost, all he cared about was if we gave it everything we had, and had fun doing it. If there was one thing that he wishes he could have impacted everyone he came into contact with, it is to live by this motto because with it comes success and he proved this in everything he did in his life.
