David Paul Andre

Dave Andre, born January 14, 1947, passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends on November 12, 2024. 

Dave was born in Yankton, South Dakota where he grew up on the family farm in Wakonda with his 6 other siblings, Dan, Terry, Jeanette, Jeanie, Johnny and Sherri. Dave graduated Wakonda High School in 1965. 

In 1965 after high school, Dave moved to Colorado. There he met Charlotte Frobig and they were married. In 1968 they welcomed their first son Paul and in 1973 they welcomed their second son Jeffrey. 

In 2004 Dave married Carla McDonald. They purchased a home in Denver where they both loved to garden. Dave had a beautiful lawn and grew flowers taken from his childhood farm in South Dakota. He loved to share his passion for gardening with his grandkids. One year he grew a giant pumpkin weighing in at over 100 pounds and then carved it with the grandkids. 

Dave was an avid outdoorsman. He loved to hunt, fish and camp with his wife Carla. He loved to share his stories with anyone who would listen! From childhood memories of growing up on the farm to hunting and fishing stories. You never knew if he was telling you a tall tale, or if the unbelievable story was true. There was a 50/50 chance it was both! 

Dave opened a Chevron gas station in the mid 1970’s located in Denver. His full service gas station and mechanical repair shop is where his life long career of being a mechanic began. In 1983 he opened Dave’s Automotive in Aurora. Dave’s auto quickly grew a generational following. Dave’s was the place to go if you needed car repairs. Dave retired in 2011 and his son Paul, continued the legacy of Dave’s until 2022. 

Dave spent his final years living at Brookdale at Lowry. Between the restaurant right down the hall from his apartment to all of the friends he made and Friday Happy Hour, he enjoyed his home. The staff took great care of him. 

Dave was preceded in death by his wife Carla, siblings Jeanette, Dan, Terry and his parents Ralph and Iona. Dave is survived by his sons, Paul (Becky), Jeff (Kelly) , grandchildren Justin, Matthew, Cole, Jake, Jayanna, and great grandchildren Sayda Vi and Rosie. 

Donations in lieu of flowers can be made to the Brookdale at Lowry care staff Christmas fund in Dave’s name. There will be a collection box at his service for cash or check donations. Checks can be made payable to: Brookdale Lowry Annual Associate Appreciation Fund.
