David Mitchell Brooks

David Mitchell Brooks, 82, of Aurora, passed peacefully on August 21, 2023. He was born in Wilmington, DE on February 14, 1941. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 55 years, Rose, and his son-in-law, Cliff Coe. He was the devoted father of Barbara Coe, Deborah (Troy) Taylor, Tracy (Mark Duncan) Brooks, and Stephanie (Frank) Mufic; caring grandfather of Lindsey (Brent) Barslund, Alexa (Jeffrey) Ely, and Megan (Ryan) Zahn; and loving great-grandfather to Declan and Walker Barslund, and Ellie and Everett Zahn. The family also wishes to express their heartfelt appreciation to Sharon Tufts for her kindness and care as Dave’s companion for the last several years. Dave, with a passion for the airlines, worked for TWA for over 30 years. He proudly served in the United States Marine Corps for 4 years and was committed to his country. He was a Past Master at his local Masonic lodge and volunteered to assist children with hearing aids. He enjoyed entertaining his friends and family at the pool he worked hard to maintain. He loved to travel and see historic sites. While he was always known for his strong will and stubbornness, he had a thoughtful and caring heart. He will be forever missed. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Dave’s name may be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Cancer Fighter.
