David E. Compton

            David Earl Compton, age 82, died in Denver Hospice on August 29, 2023. He was a graduate of South High School and Metro State University. He was born in Kansas on February 28, 1941, but moved to Denver at an early age. Dave was drafted into the Army after high school and served in Germany where he met his first wife, Gislinde. He is survived by their son Timothy Compton, daughter Heide Barrowman and granddaughter Meagan Compton.

            Dave’s career and entire life was immersed in the Denver Fire Department and the Air Force Fire Department. He was able to combine the two careers and spent his life serving the community of Denver and the country in that way.

            Dave married Michele Carman Compton on October 21, 2012, at Windsor Gardens. They enjoyed the retired life as active members of the Windsor Gardens Community.

            Funeral services will be held at Fort Logan National Cemetery on September 25, 2023 at 12:30 p.m. A reception will follow from 2:00-6:00 at CenterPoint in Windsor Gardens (595 South Clinton Street, Denver, CO 80247). In lieu of flowers the family is asking donations be made to the Fire Department Museum at 1326 Tremont Place, Denver, Colorado 80204.
