Dave passed away at home in Denver on November 21, 2017. He is survived by his wife, Ruth; his parents, Sandy and Joy Craven of Centennial, CO; and his brother and sister-in-law Eric and Jan also of Centennial. A master of living a balanced life between work and play, Dave loved life and lived it well. After college, Dave initially worked as a CPA for the state of Colorado. After several years and a biking trip across the USA, Canada, and England, Dave realized he was suited for a more flexible, people-oriented job. For the rest of Daveâs career, he worked as a residential real estate broker, primarily in Denverâs Bonnie Brae neighborhood. He assisted many neighbors and friends in the acquisition and sales of their homes. After all, Bonnie Brae was his neighborhood too. If the weather was good, Dave probably would be enjoying the outdoors. He enjoyed successive outdoor activities, usually devoting all his play time to his current passion. Those included skiing, dirt biking, road biking, motorcycling, snowboarding, and hiking. His greatest recreational passion was single-track mountain biking. On any given Thursday and Sunday, when Dave was in Denver, you would probably find Dave on a trail in the front-range. Favorite getaways were in Moab, Fruita, Crested Butte, and recently the trails around the Phoenix area. Models of âopposites attract,â Dave and Ruth were married over 33 years. Each let the other be who they were. Ruth went on many biking trips with Dave and enjoyed the local activities, shopped, or read while he was on the trail. Dave and Ruth traveled the US and the world together. Favorite trips were to Italy, New Zealand, Tasmania, and a kayaking/hiking trip on a small cruise boat along the Alaskan inside passage. Dave fought pancreatic cancer for the last year and a half of his life. Throughout that time Dave maintained his optimistic, friendly, and strong demeanor. Dave will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed by his family and many friends. In lieu of flowers, you may send donations to pancreatic cancer research (e.g. gifts.mdanderson.org, www.pancan.org/ways-to-give'é); IMBA (International Mountain Biking Assoc., www.imba.com/donate), or a hospice of your choice (e.g. Denver Hospice, Porter Hospice, HopeWest Hospice). A Memorial Service will be held at 3:00 Pm, Friday December 1 at Horan & McConaty Family Chapel, 1091 South Colorado Boulevard, Denver with a reception following in the Horan & McConaty Reception Center at that location. Please share memories of Dave and condolences with his family in the Guestbook.
