David Thompson Deming

January 3, 1937 — June 20, 2014

David, 77, of St. George, UT passed away on June 20, 2014 surrounded by loving family in his home. He was born January 3, 1937 in Shelbyville, Indiana to Herschel Parr Deming and Margaret Adair Thompson. Raised in Marion County, Indiana, the family later moved to Denver. David attended Colorado State University where he received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education and worked many years as a school teacher. He also served as a signalman in the United States Navy from 1954 - 1962. David had many passions in his life, the first of which was his late wife, Linda Diana Deming, to whom he was married from April 16, 1977 until her passing in February of 2009. He enjoyed singing and playing his 12-string guitar, target practice with his sons, camping with family, and visiting Maui, Hawaii. He was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and worked as a temple worker in the Denver Temple. He married Carol Scott in November, 2009 and together they moved to St. George, Utah to escape the harsh Colorado winters. He adored his 7 children and 14 grandchildren, cars, trains, guns and nearly everything associated with them. He is survived by his wife Carol Scott Deming; children Dean (Tiffany), Hallie (Chuck) Springer, Troy (Chris), Justin (Brenda), Stacie (Wade) Larson, Seth (Linda), Drew; grandchildren Connor (Sierra), Cameron (Amber), Corbin, Dawn, Ashley, Caylee, Talbert, Ethan, Foster, Oliver, Austin, Allan, Jaden and Sierra; his brother Robert (Beverly). The family will receive friends Wednesday, June 25, 6-8PM with funeral service on Thursday, June 26 at 10AM, both at Horan & McConaty Family Chapel, 7577 West 80th Avenue, Arvada, Colorado.
