Dr. David Child Dodge III died peacefully January 1st, 2024, at 79 in Denver, Colorado.
A fourth generation Denverite, David was the great-great-grandson of Colonel D.C. Dodge, early Colorado railroad pioneer. He was graduated from Colorado Academy, the University of Chicago, and the University of Colorado School of Medicine after which he pursued a career in general medicine.
A renaissance man of letters as well as science, he had a lifelong passion for the great works of antiquity often spending his free time studying ancient Greek and Latin texts. Although he was a child of the Rockies, he had a deep love for the ocean often spending his vacations in Coronado, California.
Always a devoted husband and father, he is survived by his wife and Colorado artist Madeleine Ann Dodge and three loving sons, Jason Tomory Dodge of Los Angeles (Jennifer), Alexander Leeman Dodge of Tokyo (Satoko), and John Constantine Bentley Dodge of Montpellier, France; his brother, Donald Kunz Dodge of Denver (Jana); four grandchildren, David Oliver Dodge, Sumire Coco Dodge, Charlie Madeleine Dodge, and Rosanna Lucienne Dodge; as well as his cousins and many close, life-long friends.
Funeral services will be held 10:00am Wednesday, January 10th at Good Shepherd Catholic Church, 2626 E 7th Ave Pkwy, Denver.
