David William ""Dave"" Eichelberger

David passed away suddenly at home on September 10th, a month after his 42nd wedding anniversary. He was born in Denver to William and Margaret Eichelberger in June, 1947. David lived most of his life in Denver, Colorado. He graduated from South High School and later earned his degree in mechanical engineering at CU Boulder. He began his career as an automotive engineer in Detroit for General Motors. He returned to Denver and joined Stearns Rodger, later earning his Professional Engineer license. He continued his career through subsequent acquisitions for 40 years. In 1974, he married Mary Nickelson. During his early career with Stearns, he was a mining engineer. Other professional projects included nuclear waste storage facilities, space launch complexes, oil and gas refineries, munitions decommission, and various infrastructure projects. One of his favorite projects was a theoretical design for lunar mining. Later in his career, he was known as a project historian because of his extensive and varied experience and record keeping. Dave also served on the board of Columbine Federal Credit Union for many years.

Dave was an avid golfer, and a snipe sailor. He was also a bit of a gearhead. He was a man of quiet but fierce faith. He was devoted to his father and sisters. He was a dedicated husband, father and grandfather. He will be sorely missed.

He leaves behind his wife, Mary, daughter Elizabeth (Godfried)​ Herrmann and granddaughter Veronica; as well as his father, Bill, and sisters, Diane (Robert)​ Krus , Susan (Gary Prado) Crane, Sally (Jerry) Kuhn. He was predeceased by his mother, Marty.

A funeral mass will be held at the Horan & McConaty Family Chapel, 1091 South Colorado Blvd, Wednesday, September 26th at 10:30 AM.
