 DAVID BRECKENRIDGE (Breck) GROVER

Age 76 passed away September 15 after a lengthy hospital stay. He was born on January 10, 1947, in Knoxville, TN.

After graduating from The McCallie School in Chattanooga, the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, and the University of Memphis Law School, Breck moved west for a job with the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) finally settling in Denver, CO.  His employment included years in the oil and gas industry and the legal community, retiring from Auditor Dennis Gallagher’s office after 12 years in city government.  During his UT years he was a member of the UT Singers and began his lifelong love of the Sigma Chi Fraternity (serving on the Board of Trustees).  Another adventure that led to many fun memories was when it was “Football Time in Tennessee” he was privileged to take care of Smokey, Tennessee’s mascot. During his many years in Denver, he was a part of the Colorado History events with Dennis Gallaher and Tom Noel.  Embracing his Irish heritage, he was a member of the James Joyce Reading Society and the Metropolitan Irish Counselors Society (MICS), driving his Mercedes convertible in the annual St. Patrick’s Parade.  He was a member and past president of the University Club of Denver, as well as a member of the Cactus Club.

Breck is preceded in death by his parents Clark and Patsy Grover.

He is survived by his wife of 35 years Mary Lynn Grover, his sisters Kathy (Charlie) Taylor and Peg (Jim) Willingham, and various nieces and nephews in Tennessee.
