David Jaramillo, 80, of Westminster, Colorado passed away peacefully on June 24th, 2014. He was born February 11, 1934 in Denver and his childhood wish was to become an opera singer. His love of the stage led him to become a stagehand at an early age, officially becoming part of the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees Union (I.A.T.S.E.) at eighteen. He met what was to be his future wife while working on the stage crew of the touring company of Hello, Dolly!. Bobbie was a dancer and their relationship grew as they toured the country. They married in 1968 and moved to New York where they both worked on Broadway. David worked on such shows as Jesus Christ Superstar, Company, Lorelai, Prime of Miss Jean Brodie, Seesaw, and countless other shows with such legendary performers as Mary Martin, Robert Preston, Ethel Merman, John Housman, and Ben Vereen. After the births of their three children, David and Bobbie relocated back to David's hometown of Denver. He worked as property master for Colorado Ballet for the last 25 years building and managing props for all of the ballets. He was been fighting various types of cancers over the last 15 years and never missed a show due to his illness. He's possibly the only property master to know all of his prop cues for The Nutcracker by the music. He also loved opera, particularly Rigoletto, Carmen, and La Boheme. His passion for the arts kept him strong and he is not only going to be missed by his family but by all of the dancers and production crew at Colorado Ballet and his fellow I.A.T.S.E. union members as well. Left to cherish his memory are his wife Bobbie Jaramillo of Westminster, Colorado, his three daughters: Alison Jaramillo of Littleton, Colorado, Amy Lambert of Vancouver, Canada, and Adrianne Hampton of Palos Verdes, California, son-in-law Judd Lambert of Vancouver, Canada; his sisters: Helen Raley of Aurora, Colorado, and Minnie Martinez, of Littleton, Colorado; his grandchildren Pierce David Lambert and Daniella Lambert of Vancouver, Canada, as well as many other nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the following organizations in David's name: Colorado Ballet, Opera Colorado, Colorado Symphony Orchestra, or Littleton Youth Ballet (for the David Jaramillo Memorial Scholarship), 5239 S Rio Grande Street, Littleton, CO 80120. Final Curtain Call will be held Thursday, July 3rd at 11:00 am at Horan & McConaty Family Chapel, 7577 West 80th Avenue, Arvada, Colorado.
