Building Trust for 40 Years
Dave had a passion for designing, creating and the home building process. From a young age he grew up surveying with his father in Colorado’s front range and foothills. He was attracted to working outdoors in nature and loved the satisfaction of creating and completing projects. His destiny would lead him towards custom home design and building. Dave loved traditional styles of architecture and masonry. His family’s roots included an influential lineage of stone carving & lumber mill grandfathers, a prominent architect uncle and a significant role model father; the engineer, watchmaker, impressive designer, photographer and draftsman.
Dave Marshall was the visionary creator of both Landmark Homes & Landmark Custom Homes. Designing, drafting, physically framing and creating his family’s first house at age 26; Dave would continue on building for over fifty years and completed more than 168 projects.
Dave Marshall and “Landmark” became recognized as one of metro Denver’s best luxury home builders. His aim was always to leave a Landmark; with top quality, exceptional detail and recognized style for his own uniqueness.
An extraordinary list of clients, trade professionals, suppliers, municipalities, bankers, realtors, designers and architects would be proud to say they were a friend of Dave Marshall and associated with one, (or if lucky many) of his numerous projects. Landmark Homes are beautifully memorializing David Kent Marshall throughout the Denver metro area; for generations into the future they were created with a passion for excellence and are here for all to admire and appreciate.
Dave’s influence, teaching and mentoring touched the lives of so very many people. Those of us so fortunate to have captured some of his wisdom will continue on. We all must remember, (as a testament for Dave’s passing) the importance of taking the time to care about what you do and to strive to make it beautiful and correctly.

Dave deeply valued his friends and business relationships - in the end, they came to mean everything. He was so proud of his sons and incredibly grateful to have them with him in his last weeks. Dave took to passionately spending time with each grandchild to ensure they were on the right path.
He loved travel; from riverboat cruises to wine country in Italia to posing in front of an Edinborough castle, like his father had 40 years before. He loved riding his Honda CBX, riding in a B-17 (and anything to do with planes and WWII) as well as endless cooking shows. Highly regarded for his understanding, detail and tenacity, this Virgo also had a tremendous humor side and saying profound things that continue to make us smile today.

PLEASE, DON’T SEND FLOWERS. WE HAVE A BIGGER IDEA.
Dave Marshall believed in and cared for his subs in building his beautiful homes. We would not have our homes if it weren't for the hardworking subcontractors that do all the labor and expertise to make them happen. He helped many of his subs become successful and he was proud of them. His other passion was discovering late in life the value of saving and planning for a retirement. He spent countless hours drawing up plans and formulas to teach his sons, grandkids, daughters-in-law how to get financially secure and make wise decisions. This is marrying his desire to see his subs succeed with his passion to see people financially secure and planning for a nest egg. Our goal is to create a "scholarship" resource that matches construction subcontractors with mentors and resources to become financially educated on how to secure their retirement.
Some of the most heart-touching moments we’ve had over the last weeks have come from those he helped over the years, some for decades, who called to say goodbye and to thank Dave for all he’s done for them… and tell great stories. He did so many things to help that we didn’t even know about. It brought tears to our family’s eyes.
With that, we wanted to honor Dave’s passion… and bottle it. People ask how they can help us, about a charity they can give to, etc. We don’t need flowers or food…have plenty filling the house. Instead, we’ve started a GoFundMe education account — The Landmark Homes Keystone Project — to help directly provide financial security education to his hard-working, self-employed subcontractors. Our goal is to provide a resource to these hard-working folks so they can start to build a secure future. Nothing major, just simple tricks that Dave learned on how to save the pennies and dollars so they can add up to something substantial. So if you want to continue his legacy of support, here’s the link.
