David Christopher McKnight, 29, passed away March 20, 2017 in Parker, Colorado. David was born September 23, 1987 in Aurora, Colorado to David Michael and Holly Jo Henkle McKnight. 22 months later he received a little sister named Danae Katherine. David grew up in Parker where he attended Pine Lane Elementary, Sierra Middle School and graduated from Chaparral High School. While at Chaparral he worked hard on the Basketball and Baseball teams. He won many honors for both sports. As a senior David led the state all year in the pitching category called earned run average. He went on to Salt Lake Community Collage where he was able to do what he loved most and competed on the baseball team becoming their closer. While there he received his Associates degree. He spent the next two years at BYU also as a closer for the baseball team. He was able to wear his proud number 22 as he took the baseball field for the Cougars. Then through the grace of God he received his Bachelors degree. After college he remained in baseball, coaching at the college level, where he touched many lives and helped guide his players with their careers. He was an expert fisherman, would golf with anyone who would go with him and made friends everywhere he went. He enjoyed all this world had to offer and formed many life long relationships as he traveled through it. David is survived by his parents, Holly and David; sister, Danae McKnight; grandparents Merle and Marge Henkle, Aunts Michele Lane (Steve), Melinda West (Mark) and Jan Wright (Steve) Cousins Matt Lane (Camhi), Kristen Shaw (Phill), Ryan Lane (Alana), Nicki Barker (Rob), Maryn Peterson (Prent), Megan Guthrie (Parker), Mike West (Jamie), Mallory Gustafson (Josh), Eugene Wright (Kaelyn) and Paige Wright. Second cousins Brady, Parker and Jaid Lane, Caid, Quentin and Ella Lane, Keegan, Kellen and Emerick Gulledge, Ellie Shaw, Mayan West, Kinley Gustafson, Brooklyn and Kaia Wright. David is a loving son, brother, coach and friend to many and will be missed… A viewing and story telling for family and friends will be held on Friday, March 24, 2017 from 6:00-7:00pm, at the Heartlight Center (which shares the parking lot with Horan & McConaty), 11150 East Dartmouth Ave., Aurora, CO 80014. A celebration of David's life will be held at 3:00pm, on Saturday, March 25, 2017, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 20850 Main Street, Parker, CO 80138 In lieu of flowers the David McKnight Scholarship fund has been established as he loved to help others.
