David R. Hadden (Dave), 82, of Highlands Ranch, Colorado went home to be with the Lord on April 12, 2025 after a long illness. Dave was born in Lansing, Michigan in 1942. He was raised in Lansing and graduated from Bowling Green State University with a Master's Degree in Geology.
While doing field work in school, the "Wild West" called his name and he went to work for Marathon Oil Company in Casper, Wyoming, where he met his wife, Mary Kay, who he fondly called "Mervin" their whole married life of 55 years.
Dave is survived by his wife and two children: Sean of Littleton, Colorado and Julie Larkin of Grand Junction, Colorado.
Dave loved the outdoors and the mountains. He learned to ski and eventually became a National Ski Patrolman at Hogadon Basin Ski Area in Casper, Wyoming. He was also a founding member of the Nordic Ski Patrol in Casper. A new job opportunity brought him to Colorado in 1979. Dave loved the Colorado mountains and was an avid cyclist, skier, hiker, and backpacker. Also, his wife, Mary Kay, boasts that he was the best "handyman" and could build and fix almost anything! Dave worked in the oil industry for 18 years and during the downturn of the 80's, he found himself working for the Federal Government. He worked his way up the ladder to become a Systems Administrator. During that time, he had opportunities to travel to Europe to install equipment in the American Embassies in several countries. Dave was also a man of faith and was active in his church, leading several weekend retreats and attending men's groups and Bible studies. He also took care of babies in the nursery. Dave and Mary Kay moved to Windcrest Retirement Community in 2020 where they have met a world of new friends. Dave will be remembered for his great smile and sense of humor.
A Celebration of Life will be held on May 2, 2025 at 1:30 pm at Moutainview Christian Church, 40 E. Highlands Ranch Parkway Highlands Ranch, CO 80126.
Donations can be made in Dave's honor to Mountainveiw Christian Church or the Colorado Alzheimer's Association.
