David Bruce Stamm

David B. Stamm of Arvada passed away September 11. He was born in Denver on March 23, 1959 to Fritz and Roberta Stamm. He is survived by his wife, Shelley, his two daughters Martha (Jake) Thurston and Kelsey, his brothers Neil (Carolyn) and Greg and his sister Elaine (Kevin) Paulson. He graduated from Ranum High School in 1977. He received a Bachelors in Sociology from Doane College in Crete, Nebraska in 1981 where he met his loving wife of 28 years. He then began work in Grand County as a Probation Officer in December. He married Shelley on a mountaintop overlooking Grand Lake on August 3, 1985. David worked as a probation officer and supervisor for 32 years. He retired from Jefferson County in January and took full advantage of his retirement keeping busy with his many hobbies and activities. This past summer was filled with many trips including Nebraska, Grand Junction, California and Jamaica. David was the poster boy for The Colorado Man. Throughout the years he loved skiing, kayaking, fly-fishing, camping, hunting, gardening, running, mountain biking, and hiking 14ers. He was a volunteer firefighter in Hot Sulpher Springs and volunteered with the National Sports Center for the Disabled as a ski buddy. After watching his daughters play soccer and encouraging them for many years, he took up refereeing the sport. He was a lifelong Broncos fan- he had his original seats from Mile High Stadium to prove it. You could also find him at 4am every November in line for the new KBCO Studio C album. A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, September 18, 2013, 5:00 PM at Horan & McConaty Family Chapel, 7577 West 80th Avenue, Arvada. A Reception will be held following the Service. In honor of David's membership of the ""10 gallon club"", donations may be made in his name to Bonfils Blood Center in lieu of flowers.
