David ""Davo"" Douglas VanderMeer, born July 23, 1974, in Royal Oak, Michigan, passed away on May 26, 2011 in Denver, Colorado. Davo was a kind soul who loved his family, friends, and, most especially, his wife, Kelly, and their son, Willem, to whom he was deeply devoted. His disdain for formal footwear, regardless of temperature or locale, was legendary among those who knew him. Davo is a graduate of Carmel High School and Indiana University. Although very few people ever heard him speak the language, he earned a degree in Spanish. During his time on earth, he touched a great many people with his humor, warmth, and intelligence. Those in his orbit were blessed to receive the deep generosity of his spirit; to be loved by Davo was to truly be loved. He is survived by his wife, Kelly (Studt) VanderMeer, and their son, Willem; his parents, John and Jeanne VanderMeer, of Indianapolis, Indiana; his brother, Gerritt; sister, Gage; sister-in-law Carolann, and nephew, Cooper; mother-in law Phyllis and Dennis Parker; father-in law Allen and Vickie Studt; brother and sister-in-law Craig and Amanda Studt, nephew Carson; and Kelly's grandmother, Mildred Marcum. A celebration of Davo's life was held on Tuesday, May 31, 2011, at the Denver Botanic Gardens. Memorial contributions can be made payable to VANGUARD FBO THE WILLEM KENNETH VANDERMEER TRUST c/o John D. Vandermeer - 7981 Oakhaven Place, Indianapolis, IN 46256.
