Dean G. Gissler, age 63, of Aurora, CO passed away on February 23, 2016 following a battle with Alzheimer's. He was born on November 11, 1952 in Cheyenne, WY but spent much of his early years in Nebraska. Dean became an Eagle Scout in 1967 and graduated from Central City High School in 1971 where he was a member of the #4 ranked basketball team. He was inducted into the Central City Hall of Fame in early 2001 for his football career. Dean entered the U.S. Air Force Academy to play football and later transferred to the University of Nebraska to continue playing for the Husker's. He graduated in 1975 when he received his B.S. degree for a double major in Political Science and Zoology. Dean played football briefly for the Washington Redskins and New York Giants. Later he opened a custom cabinetry business in Aurora, CO. Dean was preceded in death by his parents, Rolland A. Gissler (1998) and Sarah Jane (Kistler) Gissler (2011); and a brother, Douglas Rolland Gissler (1969). He is survived by his wife, Nanci (Jones) Gissler; son, Garrett Douglas Gissler; daughter, Hanna Marin Gissler; and brother, Craig (Monica) Gissler, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Memorial Services for Dean will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, March 5, 2016 at the Lord of the Hills Lutheran Church (21755 E. Smoky Hill Rd., Aurora, CO 80015) with inurnment immediately following at the church.
