Dean Ianni

Dean Ianni (Dino), age 63, passed away at home on May 25, 2021. Born September 1st in Peoria, Illinois to Dino Ianni and Dolores Schaeffer, Dino followed in the footsteps of his father with a love for all things radio. In addition to senior management and ownership positions at radio stations in Denver and New Mexico, Dino was involved in business development and start-ups as an owner, a consultant, and most recently, as a partner in PantherTec, a human performance enhancement company.

In November, 2002, Dino married Sue Coughlin and devoted his life to her and to their blended family and friends. Dino was known for his love of books and intellectual curiosity, both of which led to lively discussions and lifelong learning. Dino’s music library was as diverse as it was vast.  He thrived on discovery and appreciated music of all genres.  He influenced and inspired his sons’ passions for music, sports, cars, comedy, and travel and especially enjoyed preparing and sharing his love of Italian cuisine with his family.

Dino also enjoyed the role of Little League coach later in his life. Hundreds of children in Aurora can trace their sports memories to coach Dino. He emphasized enjoyment and knowledge over winning and took great pride in the accomplishments of his teams.

Dino’s legacy is found in reminders everywhere, from watching the Cubs lose in heartbreaking fashion, to the comedy of Bill Murray, to enjoying a good scotch and cigar on a Wisconsin lake, He will be remembered for his unwavering devotion to family, wicked sense of humor, depth of broadcast knowledge, wisdom, leadership, honesty, and judgement of character.

Dino is survived by his wife Sue, sons Tony Ianni, Dino Ianni and Kenton Hanson (Stephanie) and Sue’s children: Lori Inskeep (Jo Shattuck); Brian Inskeep (Staci); Wendy Skaalerud (Erik). There are ten grandchildren.  Also surviving Dino are two siblings: Debora Limmer (Heinz) and Denise Ianni and two nieces. Dino’s brother, David Ianni, preceded him in death.
