Deanna Lynn Officer

It is with profound sadness that we announce the death of our beloved daughter, sister, aunt & friend Deanna ""Cookie Lady"" Lynn Officer. Deanna, 46, of Lakewood, Colorado passed away peacefully on Monday, April 14, 2014 in her home after complications from her battle with ovarian cancer. Deanna is survived by her parents Dean & Ella Officer; her Aunt Sharon Sichi; her siblings Linda, John, Cynthia & Freida, her 14 nephews & nieces, her many adoring friends and professional acquaintances. Born in Yuma, Arizona on August 2, 1967 Deanna attended Prescott High School in Prescott, Arizona. In her young adult years Deanna relocated to Scottsdale, Arizona, met her best friend Jessica & began working in the culinary world of Cookies! In 1994 Deanna relocated to Denver, Colorado where she single-handedly opened the Colorado Cookie Company, which has been in successful operation for going on 20 years. Long known for her kind heart, her generous spirit, her positive outlook on life and her wonderful and rich sense of humor, Deanna served her community proudly in the capacity of a leader in the women's organization at church, and via her anonymous service & donations to individuals and families who were struggling. Unbeknownst to many every Christmas Deanna anonymously donated cookies and gift baskets to local hospitals, nursing homes, fire stations, shelters and families. Deanna inherited her grandmother Gloria & Aunt Sharon's passion for reading, and was an avid member of book clubs over the years. She was a loyal patron of the arts & loved attending the theater, as well as travelling both international & domestic. Deanna was also known to play a mean game of Texas Hold'em with her friends, but most of all Deanna loved people. Many of her customers became like family members to her over the years, and she became like a favorite Aunt to their children. Deanna was the epitome of compassion and human kindness and we shall miss our friend dearly. Until we meet again, rest in peace Deanna. On Saturday 19th April @ 11:00am the service will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 610 Coors Street, Golden, Colorado.
