Deborah Ataya

November 8, 1955 — March 23, 2012

Deborah Anne Lawrence Ataya, age 56, beloved wife of Hisham Ataya for the past 27 1/2 years (don’t forget the half), passed peacefully through Heaven’s Gates on Friday, March 23, 2012.

Debbie was born in New Orleans, Louisiana and received her Bachelors Degree from the University of New Orleans. Debbie moved to Denver in 1983 and worked tirelessly for almost 25 years assisting elderly and less fortunate individuals. She will be remembered as always going above and beyond for the clients that she served.

She is preceded in death by her father, Melvin Cleo Lawrence. She is survived by her husband Hisham, mother Mildred Irene Nicklaus, brother Charles and wife Cheryl, sister Katherine and husband Steve, and brother James and wife Jeanie. She was always appreciative for the love and support of Hisham’s large family. She was a sweet “Auntie” of her many nieces and nephews. She will also be greatly missed by her family of friends who have enriched her life and shared many happy times. Of course, her cherished pets Rabbit and Zaza will miss her as well.

The family is eternally grateful for the compassionate care of Denver Hospice.

Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial service at Horan & McConaty (11150 East Dartmouth Avenue) in Aurora on Friday, March 30th, 2012 at 11:00am. Interment will be private.
