Deborah Benson

Deborah Joy (Hansen) Benson, of Centennial, who was born May 19, 1947 in Chicago, IL passed away September 18, 2020 in Centennial, CO.  Deb worked as an assembler, manufacturing dental equipment before her retirement in 2013.  She received a B.A. in Journalism from Southern Illinois University.  Deb was an avid swimmer, enjoyed bird watching, and gardening.  She often joked that she needed her “chlorine fix” in times when she was not able to make it to the pool.  She is survived by her daughter Kirsten (Stewart Thomas); her son Erik (Cheri); and her grandson Jacob Thomas; brother, Richard Hansen (Barbara); and brother, Donald Hansen.  The funeral service will be Thursday, October 8th, 2:30 p.m., at Our Father Lutheran Church, 6335 S. Holly St., Centennial, CO 80121.  Interment will be held at St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery, Mt. Prospect, IL at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Lutheran Hour Ministries, Orphan Grain Train, or LCMS World Mission.
