Delbert (Del) John Wacker, 94, entered his eternal heavenly rest on April 26, 2022 in Wheat Ridge, CO. He was born in Holmsville, NE. He was baptized and confirmed at First Trinity Lutheran Church in Beatrice, NE. He grew up farming in southeastern Nebraska and graduated from Beatrice High School. In high school he played the baritone horn and tuba in the marching band. At age 22 he was drafted into the Army and was a machinist at the Aberdeen Proving Ground in Maryland during his active duty. After his military service Del moved to Denver where he applied his skills at several different companies including Coors Porcelain Plant. He retired from there after 24 years and then worked 5 more years for Band-It.
In 1967 he married Joyce at Peace Lutheran Church in Arvada. For many years they were active in their church and they both played in the handbell choir. They loved the Colorado mountains in both winter and summer, hiking and climbing and riding with the Mile High Snowmobile Club. They traveled the U.S. coast to coast and cruised Alaska and the Panama Canal. Del and his brother, Harold, built a mountain cabin near Florissant at Lutheran Valley Ranch which they enjoyed for many years. Joyce went to be with Jesus in 2017 and Del continued to live at MorningStar – Arvada.
Del was preceded in death by all his siblings, Erwin, Arlene (Rinne) and Harold. Kathy Wacker is the lone remaining sister-in-law. He was uncle to John (deceased), Daryl, Rob, Steve, Deb, Denice, Mark, Bruce, Denise, Favian, Dave and Tim and their spouses. He was great uncle and great-great uncle to numerous young adults and children.
Visitation is May 12, 2022 at 10:00AM, followed by a 11:00AM Memorial Service at Horan & McConaty, 7577 W. 80th Ave. Arvada. Burial will be at Ft. Logan National Cemetery. Memorials may go to Peace Lutheran Church, 5675 Field St, Arvada, CO 80002.
